About the Author
Back-of-the-Book-Jacket Stuff:
Kris Chen was a teacher for 13 years, before becoming the coordinator at a highly sought after Gifted and Talented Magnet program. Later, they moved into a role of G/T Specialist for the district.
After 18 years, they left their career in education to pursue other interests, including graduate school and writing. They currently live in Chicago with their spouse.
Real Stuff:
I'm a recluse. I like people, but I am very uncomfortable around people. It's not you, it's me.
I do my best writing in the morning, insanely early, while most normal people are sleeping. I am also most motivated to exercise insanely early - which often puts the two goals of writing and working out at odds with each other.
Scrivener is the best writing program ever. Steep learning curve. Well worth the effort.
Like my writing, I, too, am a work in progress.
Writing Progress:
My graduate school Writer's Workshop has pushed me to explore different types of writing outside my comfort zone. I have also been encouraged to submit my work to various places, just to see what happens. I am really enjoying playing around with my writing!
I have finished one book and am working on edits for it before I shop for agents. I have started three other books and they are in various stages of disarray.
Writing is about putting one word down, and then another and another, until the last word is written and you realized you've finished. Tenacity is the single-word job description for a writer.
Go forth and write!
