This summer of writing has not gone how I expected.
Not even close.
And, worse, my work-in-progress (WIP) is stuck.
It's not so much writer's block as writer's indecision. -- I just don't know what I want to have happen in the story now. The plot that was once so clear and made so much sense now does not. That, or maybe I'm just not about to write about death right now, given recent events.
Either way, to procrastinate working on my WIP, I started reading through a bunch of half-baked stories that I had started but never finished. They were in various stages of disarray.
One of them, though, struck a chord. Especially now.
I wrote some more on it. In fact, I now have a clear direction for it and have outlined where I want it to go and how I want it to look. I'm a good 4,000 words further on it than I was when I picked it back up this weekend.
Maybe it's the story I need to write right now. Maybe it's the story that I need to get unstuck.
Go forth and write!
Not even close.
