"The Future" used to scare the hell out of me.
I was very "Luke Skywalker - esque" ... in the words of Yoda "Always, as he looked away. Never his mind on where he was. Never his mind on what he was doing."
When I heard Yoda tell Luke that in Empire Strikes Back, I identified so hard with Luke.
I've met people who were happy to live their whole lives in one place. I am not one of them. Hence my nomadic nature and bouncing around to different places to live and work.
My spouse will be applying for the next phase of their job this summer. We'll find out in December if anything will happen. Which means, next summer, we may be moving again.
I'll be applying to PhD programs as well, getting ready to start the next phase of my training.
Personally, I'd like to stay here. I like UIC. I like Chicago. But if her works takes us elsewhere, I'm okay with that too.
The future doesn't scare me any more. "The Future" is just an adventure I haven't had yet.
Go forth and write!
